LinkedIn signs a MoU with the HRD Ministry to provide more opportunities for the youth

The popular, global professional network, LinkedIn, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Government (Human Resource Development Ministry) to provide more job opportunities for Indian students. Mentioned as a clause in the MoU, LinkedIn’s “Placements” will be adopted by all colleges in India which are affiliated with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and provides a level field for all students irrespective of their college or location to take an online assessment test which allows them to apply to over 25 corporates in India.

“We’re excited to work with the HRD ministry and AICTE to help students get greater access to the ‘Placements’ product. Our objective with ‘Placements’ is to help the country’s best talent get access to job opportunities, regardless of their location. We hope to bring students closer to their dream jobs through this platform.” -Akshay Kothari, LinkedIn India Country Manager and Head of Product

The “placements” tab was piloted back in November, 2015 and was open to students of all colleges and universities across India only in September 2016. The platform has got a terrific response since the launch and they have received over two lakh registrations and 1.2 million applications since their inception.
