Reliance Jio which was launched in September 5th last year, created waves in terms of news as it was the first network to offer free unlimited 4G internet for four months and offered net packs for as low as INR 50 for 1 GB. This offer helped them gain of 75 million subscribers across the country and the offer got extended to 31st March. However, the latest news is that the free internet offer by Jio is extended till 30th June, 2017. With this absolutely new offer, it is estimated that more people will purchase and switch to the Jio network and within some more days, they will be able to reach out to over 7 crore people in the country.
However, the new offer comes with a catch which is that that the Jio network will start charging a nominal amount of INR 100 for 4g data whereas the voice calls will be absolutely free. This came as a shock to all the telecom industries as the leading networks like Airtel and Vodafone have slashed their prices in order to compete with Jio.

In a statement, he also claimed that Mukesh Ambani, the chairperson of Reliance telecom, had set a target of 100 million customers switching to Jio after the announcement in September. He also said that even though the Jio network has improved considerably, the call drop rates are still high.
Currently, a lot of people have subscribed to Jio; however, they still fear the network of people switching back to their original networks post June. To battle this insecurity, Jio is still looking for a nominal rate to charge the customers which is feasible for their sustenance in the market as well.
