Gupta is a graduate from SRCC and was on a 2 year long leave to look after her children. During her sabbatical, she got the idea of pursuing her lifelong dream of actually coming up with a business. The lack of availability of luxury products was something Kapila Gupta identified when she couldn’t order a bag from UK due to the excessive shipping rates and time required for delivery.
“Apart from the need of creating something of my own, I thought my own venture will give me more flexibility.”
She came up with the brilliant idea of Luxurystation.com, a wholesome website which would offer high end luxury brands which were popular but unavailable in India. After a market research, she found out that starting a store would mean additional running and maintenance costs compared to which, setting up an e-commerce platform seemed more feasible.
The company was launched in March 2015 but started publicising itself only in October, 2015. The website currently has over 5000 registered users. The website delivers products in all cities across the country in 3-4 days. The website also has a cool section called the “pre-owned” section, where customers can sell their pre-owned luxury items directly or exchange it with other products on the website. Another feature which draws customers to this website is the “reserve feature” which allows the customer to secure the accessory they want to buy 72 hours before it is off the shelf.
This website has also been feature as a recommended seller of Authenticate First which is one of the biggest US certification companies for authentic luxury products. Some popular brands available on the website are Alexander McQueen, Fendi, Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Tom Ford, Bvlgari, Prada, DKNY, Furla, Givenchy, Hugo Boss, Axara, RVN, Ralph Lauren, Valentino etc.
Gupta believe that turning into a mompreneur (mom-entrepreneur) has its own share of difficulties; however, she also claims that setting up her own company has added more flexibility to her life. Striking the delicate work-life balance, Gupta is definitely a role model for all mompreneurs across the country.
