It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea to quit a well-paying and stable job to start your own venture. It takes a great deal of money, patience and hard work to set up your own company and there is no guarantee that it will reap profits which is why you need to ponder upon a lot of things before making the decision.
Here are a few questions you need to be able to answer before taking the risk:
I. Are you ready to play multiple roles?
Entrepreneurship isn’t an easy road as one needs to be able to be able to multitask and do a lot of things at once. It isn’t as interesting as it sounds either because it is a tough task trying to mange everything within 24 hours. Thus, before making the decision, you should be able to answer this question, positively.
II. Are you ready for a messed up routine?
Your stable job will definitely have a well-defined routine which you need to follow daily. However, it is not the same for an entrepreneur. On some days, you might have to attend 10 meetings and on the better days, you might have just one Skype call. Thus, before plunging in, you need to be ready for mismanaged routines.
III. Are you ready for a tough time?
Entrepreneurship is a bumpy road which at times, will seem very gruelling and tough as you need to convince Venture Capitalists that your idea will work and manage a whole lot of other people working under you too. So, unless you are willing to live through the difficult days, it would a wise decision to stick to your job.
IV. Is this something you REALLY want to do?
The idea of starting up your own venture is definitely intriguing but to believe in it on the dark, dreary days is a different story altogether. So, you should be convinced that this is what you want to do more than anything else in the world.
