4 practical ways in which entrepreneurs can avoid procrastination

Defined as “the action of delaying or postponing something”, procrastination can be a major roadblock which affects the job of an entrepreneur. We are all familiar of the concept as at some point we have all been guilty of procrastinating.

Listed below are four ways in which you can battle procrastination:

Change of environment

Working in the same space can bring in monotony to your life and prove to be a hindrance to your productivity. What you can do to get break the monotony is change the environment you work in. Revamp your workstation and the room to look appealing so that you can focus better. You can also opt to sit outside the office and work as the nature can be a great productivity booster.

Make a to-do list

Every night, you should make a to-do list for the next day. If possible, allocate a time frame in which each task needs to be completed. If you stick to your list and aim at getting all the work done as per the time you have set for yourself, you won’t have any time to procrastinate. This will help you be more productive and efficient.



The two minute rule

This rule is mentioned in David Allen’s book called “getting things done”. It states that if a task can be done under two minutes, you should do it as soon as possible. Following this rule in your daily professional life can help you perform tasks better and be more organised and efficient at your workplace.

Chunk your work

If a work seems too big to do, chunk or break it down into small steps. In this way, you will aim at satisfying the next step as soon as you finish the previous one. Chunking also helps you simplify your work and focus better while beating procrastination.
